I have finally left Texas. However, even though it’s been a month, I’m still not at my new prison.
I was at the transfer center in Oklahoma City for two weeks, and I think those were the most peaceful two weeks I’ve had in the general population since my incarceration. I had two different cellmates during my stay there, and even though one was a full-fledged gremlin who told me that he assaulted an s.o. in county jail, we got along just fine (since he believed all my lies about my offense).
I met another gremlin there that I could even call an associate. This guy had gotten two consecutive life sentences for a crime I didn’t dare ask about. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was also dying of cancer. He had his cancerous bladder removed, and was now collecting urine in a plastic bag that hung from his waist. He had lost his appetite as a result of all the chemo he was taking, but he loved to drink coffee. I traded him the coffee packets I got in the morning with breakfast for some of his meal trays. And that’s how we got to know each other. He liked to tell me about the different gangs in prison and how prison politics worked in higher security facilities. All in all, he was a nice guy – for a gremlin.
Even though I was able to lie my way through Oklahoma City this time, something incredibly bad did happen to me – the cops told me where I was being sent. To a MEDIUM security facility. NOOOOOO! They raised my security level!!! Now I’m going to have to deal with medium security gremlins! Is this place going to kill me?
